DREAM YOU LOST
(words and music by Randall Belt and Brian Kious)
Open your island eyes and see what's all around you.
Pick up your horizened mind and think or is it a frowned taboo?
But your wings won't fly and the wind doesn't cry, not like some things do.
Chorus A:
I'm the dream you lost, I'm the stone you tossed, I'm the well you fell into.
I'm the "T" you crossed on the path you lost, making your way through.
Wondering why but not concentrating on thoughts that can fill a room.
Turned up to your silent smile again, so thats your point of view
But your wings won't fly and the wind doesn't cry, not like some things do.
I'm the dream you lost, I'm the stone you tossed, I'm the well you fell into.
I'm the "T" you crossed on the path you lost, making your way through.
Chorus B:
I'm crawling, I'm craving, I'm sprawling and ravin'
I'm falling, I'm failing, I'm a hunter and I'm trailing you
---instrumental bridge---
I'm the dream you lost, I'm the stone you tossed, I'm the well you fell into.
I'm the "T" you crossed on the path you lost, making your way through.
I'm crawling, I'm craving, I'm sprawling and ravin'
I'm falling, I'm failing, our emotions our sailing through
I'm crawling, I'm craving, I'm sprawling and ravin'
I'm falling, I'm failing, these emotions are sailing through
(ad libs around the B Chorus number 2 and 3: "Dream you lost dream you lost,
bridge you crossed, stone you tossed, wish that ain't true", etc.)
(C) (P) 2012 Randall Belt (ASCAP) and Brian Kious (ASCAP), Barleyfields Records (ASCAP)
Album - song notes:
On this track you hear Randy Wayne Belt singing the lead vocal. Randy, Brian, and Casey sing the background and harmony vocals. And it is Brian you hear singing the counterpoint (ad libbed parts on the last two choruses, known as Chorus B), as this song has two choruses. As with most of our songs, a lot of the subtle guitar bits were spontaneous creativity in the studio. Brian's catchy guitar riffs throughout the song were pretty spontaneous. To get the right atmosphere for this song, the lights were turned low in the vocal room and different colored lights turned on during vocal takes.
